Gaming-focused ASUS ROG Phone 3 smartphone has been launched in India and is officially the first phone in the country to come with the latest Snapdragon 865+ chipset. The ASUS ROG Phone 3 succeeds last year's ROG Phone 2 (review) and comes with flagship specifications that include a 144Hz refresh rate display to offer ultra-smooth animation and scrolling experience to gamers, a new and improved cooling system, a 64MP triple rear camera setup, 5G support, a 6,000mAh battery, stereo speakers, and more. ASUS ROG Phone 3 price in India, sale date
The ASUS ROG Phone 3 price in India starts at Rs 49,999 for the 8GB + 128GB base variant. The 12GB + 256GB variant is priced at Rs 57,999. The ROG Phone 3 India price starts at is yet to be announced and we will update the story once the pricing is revealed. ROG Phone 3 will go on sale on Flipkart starting August 6th. The ASUS ROG Phone 3 features a 6.59-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with 1,080 x 2,340p resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, HDR10+ support, 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6 lup front and Gorilla Glass 3 at the back. At the heart of the ROG Phone 3 lies the newest Snapdragon 865+ SoC, which is 10 percent more powerful than the Snapdragon 865 chipset. The processor is clocked at 3.1GHz and is paired with the Adreno 640 GPU, up to 12GB RAM, and 5G modem. The phone is being offered in 128GB/ 256GB fast UFS 3.1 storage options.
The ASUS ROG Phone 3 rocks a triple camera setup at the back, which includes 64MP Sony IMX686 primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, Quad Bayer technology, and LED flash, a 13MP (f/2.4) 125-degree wide-angle sensor, and 5MP (f/2.0) macro sensor. Up front, the phone sports 24MP sensor with f/2.0 for selfies and video calling. The cameras support up to 8k video recording at 30fps and 4k slow-mo video at 30fps.
Apart from this, the ROG 3 houses a large 6,000mAh battery, 30W hyper charging support, dual front-facing speakers with GameFX and Dirac HD Sound, as many as four microphones with noise reduction technology, and HyperFusion technology to manage Wi-Fi and mobile connections. The handset also packs a cooling tech, which the company likes to call "GameCool 3". The tech uses a layered sandwich design with a large graphite film, 'enlarged' head sink, and an improved Copper 3D vapour-chamber that is rated to spread heat evenly around the screen and dissipate faster than its predecessor. The AeroActive Cooler 3 is further said to reduce the phone's temperature by up to 4-degree Celsius.
The ROG Phone 3 has AirTrigger and ultrasonic shoulder buttons with twice as many gestures as before and haptic feedback, claims the company. Other features include side-mounted USB Type-C port for charging and pairing accessories and devices, in-display fingerprint scanner, and connectivity options such as Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, GNSS, 5G+4G, and dual SIM support. Lastly, the ASUS ROG Phone 3 measures 171mm x 78mm x 9.85mm and weigh 240 grams.
ASUS has also introduced a bunch of accessories with the phone, including ROG Kunai 3 gamepad that consists of four modular components 'to fit all possible gaming scenario', redesigned ROG Kunai 3 controller, ROG Kunai 3 Bumper, ROG Kunai 3 charger and ROG Kunai 3 grip. You can also purchase ROG TwinView Dock 3 option accessory compatible for ROG Phone 3 for a dual-screen experience. The TwinView Dock 3 supports 6.59-inch AMOLED 144Hz screen and houses 5,000mAh battery with integrated 3.5mm headphone jack and RGB LED. Additionally, there are ROG gaming clip, ROG Lightning Armor Case 3, and a professional and mobile desktop dock, which bears HDMI, USB Type-C, Ehternet, and USB ports for connectivity.
