Redmi K40 with 120Hz LCD display and 4,500mAh battery tipped

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Redmi K40 is rumoured to be powered by the latest gaming-focused MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ SoC
  • The handset may also launch with 33W fast charging support

Redmi K40 specifications will not only include the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ chipset, but also a 120Hz LCD display and 4,500mAh battery, suggests Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo. While the tipster did not mention the name of the phone, it is widely believed to be the Redmi K40, which will launch in China as the successor to the Redmi K30. The Redmi K40 was recently spotted with 33W fast charging support on China’s 3C certification site earlier this month.

The Redmi K40 display size is unknown at the moment, but it is said to use an LCD panel much like the Redmi K30 aka POCO X2. To recall, the Redmi K30 was launched with a 6.67-inch FHD+ LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and elongated punch-hole. It was also fueled by 4,500mAh battery but supported a slightly slower 30W fast charging tech. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 730 for the 4G model and Snapdragon 765G for the 5G variant. The Redmi K40 will likely get a similar display, but with a new 5G chipset under the hood.

There is no word yet on the Redmi K40 camera setup. The Redmi K30, to recall, comes with a quad camera set that included a 64MP Sony IMX686 primary sensor, an 8MP super wide-angle lens, a 5MP macro and a 2MP depth. The 4G variant comes with a similar setup but exchanges the 5MP macro lens for a 2MP macro lens. The phone’s dual front cameras features a 20MP main sensor + 2MP secondary depth sensor by artificial intelligence (AI) features. The handset runs Android 10-based MIUI 11 out of the box.
